Oklahoma City

Here are a few pictures from my first two weeks in OKC. I honestly think the highlight so far was the "young at heart" prom for seniors on Friday. Everyone, including the volunteer police officers and others, were having so much fun.

Firefighters demonstrate the skid pads on a truck that helps drivers practice in dangerous, and normal, conditions.

Junior golf tournament

Minor league baseball. A run at home plate and two players talking in the dugout while two fans make themselves into hamburgers on the field in between innings.

Jet ski tricks and one of the activities for kids to write to the Navy man in the scuba suit at Riverfest.

Native American men and boys at the Red Earth Festival parade held annually in OKC. People come from all over North America to compete in dancing, art, and music.

At a prosthetics company just across the freeway from The Oklahoman. This was probably the coolest assignment so far in terms of the incredible technology and precision that goes into making each piece to fit the individual's needs. And it seemed like such a fun working environment. This man was putting the last toenail onto the foot for a female client. Another man was putting a tattoo on a female foot, and others were in various stages of applying skin color or hair and other incredible details.

These two men were part of a larger group competing in archery at the Endeavor Games here in OKC for people with disabilities. This was my first assignment, and it was a simple reminder of how much fun this job can be. They were all really friendly and having a good time.
